HEALTH BENEFITS

HEALTH BENEFITS

  • Crocette & Spine Sante: made with almonds, rich in mineral salts.  They are the queens of dried fruit, bringing numerous benefits to the body as well as delighting the palate. Almonds prevent cardiovascular diseases, and are good for the heart thanks to the presence of polyunsaturated fats, substances capable of lowering the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in blood.
  • They improve skin health, thanks to the presence of vitamin E, a fundamental antioxidant, and help to counteract the activity of free radicals, slowing down the cellular aging processes, also strengthening the immune defenses. They have an energizing and laxative action and, combined with the different vitamins and mineral salts present in them, they make the product particularly suitable for all those cases where it is necessary to provide more energy to the body: study stress, convalescence, sport, lack of concentration, pregnancy, menopause. The presence of fibers, on the other hand, facilitates intestinal motility and helps prevent constipation.
Almonds strengthen teeth, bones and fight anemia. The calcium contained in them makes them an ideal food for those suffering from osteoporosis.
  • Spine Sante: in addition to the benefits of the almonds, they contain mulberry and quince jams.
Mulberries are full of nutrients and vitamins. A cup of raw mulberries contains 60 calories, making them a light and tasty snack yet providing the nutrients necessary for the body.
The carbohydrates in mulberries convert sucrose (sugar) into glucose, which (upon glycolysis and respiration) provides energy to the cells. Moreover, it increases iron absorption and ensures adequate blood flow to the tissues when you consume them.
Mulberries also contain a lot of vitamin K and vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to boost collagen production and strengthen tissues. On the other hand, vitamin K is vital for blood clotting as well as bone tissue development.
Riboflavin (B-2) is also found in mulberries, which protects your tissues against free radicals and contributes to the transfer of oxygen in your body.
Mulberries also contain antioxidants. Among the powerful antioxidants found in mulberries is Resveratrol. Mulberries also provide other antioxidants such as cyanidin, myricetin, chlorogenic acid, and rutin. Besides these nutrient-rich compounds, mulberries usually contain poly nutrients and antioxidants like anthocyanins, flavonoids, lutein, zeaxanthin, and B carotenes.
Studies in people are needed before more conclusions can be made, but research to date shows some positive links between mulberries and several health benefits, like helping regulate blood sugar, lowering cholesterol level, increasing metabolism, boosting the immune system and helping prevent premature ageing.
Quince is a rather unusual fruit that is closely related to apples and pears. Besides being a delicious fruit, quince is a rich source of vitamin C, zinc, potassium, copper, iron, and dietary fiber. It is also rich in certain organic compounds like catechin, epicatechin, limonene, and various other phytonutrients, all of which contribute to the health benefits of quince.
There are many health benefits of quince, which include cancer prevention for its high level of antioxidants, including phenolic and phytonutrient compounds, weight loss, skin care, and the prevention of certain gastrointestinal conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or diverticulitis.
  • Crocette:  in addition to the benefits of the almonds, they contain candied orange and lemon
  • Oranges and lemons are a good source of fiber and a rich source of vitamin C and flavonoids, among many other beneficial nutrients.

Sicily

About this region

This region is located in the center of the Mediterranean sea and is also its largest island. Sicily is surrounded by the west of the Ionian Sea, the north of the Strait of Sicily and the south of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Palermo is its capital and one of the oldest Italian cities. History and tradition, art and culture, sea and mountains, those are the gems of Sicily.

So Sicily is as rich as its own history. Looking at the past allows us to understand the vibrant culinary tradition that is a result of the union of different cultures all over the time. Due to this, discovering Sicilian flavours is definitely an incredible trip around the whole world.

Culinary traditions move from the spicy taste of arabic dishes to countless recipes using tomatoes of the Spanish period to the best ingredientes of the Mediterranean diet. Sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, hard wheat bread and pasta are combined with blue fish and seasonal vegetables in a typical dish accompanied with local wine. Ricotta and cheese are inevitable products in Sicilian cooking and they can be found even in desserts enriched with dried and glazed fruit as a kind of art baking. Buon appetito in Sicily!
